         Tom Dixon

Tom Dixon, OBE, is a self-taught British artist born on May 21, 1959, in Sfax, Tunisia. He is the Creative Director of Tom Dixon, which makes lighting, furniture, and other items.

Numerous museums worldwide have acquired his works, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.

Midway through the 1980s, Tom Dixon became known as "the talented, untrained designer who made welded salvage furniture." He opened 'Space' as a place for him and other young artists to get ideas and sell their work. By the late 1980s, he worked for the Italian company Cappellini, for whom he created the famous "S" chair.
